NPR.org is the online home of National Public Radio. The site has a clean design and simple color palette that keeps with NPR branding. The design of the site is geared toward a radio audience. I find the NPR site to be well designed and full of interesting content that engages readers intellectually. While there are some minor obstacles in the navigation, I think the overall user experience is effective for the site.

Fanzines are “small-circulation magazines produced by amateurs for fans of a specific interest, pop group, etc”. Kinetic, a creative agency based in Singapore, came out with their first fanzine in October 2011. Their “stream of consciousness” storyline paired with their striking visuals make for a unique storytelling experience and an impressive promotional piece for the company.

Site Critique: Visit Norway

VisitNorway.com is a website promoting tourism in Norway through online advertising services, directory services, featuring links to relevant services and interesting activities. I first learned about this website because its 360-degree View Page, http://www.visitnorway.com/360/geiranger/#/trollveggen, got the 16th annual Webby Awards winner. Site Critique: Beetle.com

Volkswagen has marketed the 2012 Beetle as the “Reincarnation of a Classic”, focusing on the vehicle’s modified design and the incorporation of new technology. DDB Tribal Berlin, the agency that designed the website, wanted to reiterate this message on the car’s website and did so by using HTML5, parallax scrolling, and multiple device responsive design. In this way, the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle site has impacted the way in which automotive companies will market vehicles online.
